CONTACT USDACC Associates President Doug Melvin has over 25 years of professional experience providing a range of security services for the U.S. and foreign governments, private corporations, and the United Nations. Mr. Melvin has served in senior security positions for the Executive Office of President, U.S. State Department, and the Department of Homeland Security. As country director for Iraq for the Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Melvin advised the Iraqi government on border security, aviation, counter-terrorism, transportation security, and critical infrastructure protection. He earned numerous commendations for his service. Mr. Melvin has expertise in physical security, counter-terrorism, crisis management, and security training. Unique to the security profession, Mr. Melvin has applied the principles of six sigma process improvement to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of security programs for corporations, governments, and other entities. While working for the Executive Office of the President, Mr. Melvin was credited with developing and implementing the emergency response procedures that allowed for the successful evacuation of White House staff during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. For this accomplishment, Mr. Melvin received a Distinguished Service Award from President Bush. Mr. Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1998 as a Military Police Officer and Special Forces Commander. He led Special Forces teams conducting sensitive missions in foreign internal defense, counter-terrorism, elections support, and peacekeeping. Mr. Melvin earned awards and commendations including the United Nations Medal, Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medals, and a Joint Services award for service to U.S. Navy Seal Teams in support of national strategic objectives.
